It is for nine years that in Vladikavkaz, the capital of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, a lively polylogue on contemporary art has been going on – it is the annual Symposium "Alanica." The language of this conversation is the experiment, which involves all Symposium participants – artists, curators, critics and even the public, for which everything they see in "Alanica" become a continuous discovery and the trigger point for the transformation of their world vision.

Public workshops, performances, master classes convert the Symposium not only into the space for the realization of artistic ideas and projects, but into the actual ground for educational information. Communication of the artists from different countries, with different professional backgrounds allows transmitting new art ideas, which is crucial for the communication of the older generation with the younger one. In this respect, the Symposium serves as an original school of modern art, the art, which is created today, now.
During its nine seasons, "Alanica" accumulated a large collection of works that have never been exhibited outside Ossetia. Now, the best works of contemporary art - the most unexpected results of this ongoing experiment called "Alanica" - will be displayed in the framework of the 6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art in the Museum and Exhibition Center "The Worker and the Kolkhoz Woman". This exhibition site was not chosen occasionally: once Vera Mukhina's sculpture became an engineering and artistic experiment, which was significantly ahead of its time - and up till now the figures of the Worker and the Kolkhoz Woman are perceived as looking to the future.
